Police are also looking into the case with Herman Longsworth. The former UDP Albert Area Rep and Minister of State for Sports was named in an auditor general report on the National Sports Council. Â

The report says Longsworth diverted public funds to the Albert Committee bank account. The auditor found that the Sports Council hired Go Enterprises - a company controlled solely by Longsworth - to do some work at the Marion Jones Stadium. On 27th October, 2015 - a week before the general election, the company received $75,000 in mobilization fees. Longsworth - the report says - diverted $35,000 to the UDP/Albert Committee account and $5,000 into his personal account.Â

The Albert Area Rep Tracey Panton who was taking over from Longsworth at that time said that she did not receive those monies and only Longsworth would know where they went. Â

Today, the commissioner of police said that putting together a file like this is not simple:..

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"I had a meeting with the director of FIU on Monday afternoon and we ironed out some issues as it relates to banking information we need to obtain for the persons of interest and we're now getting those, the director of FIU is fully on board, he is cooperating along with his department to ensure that the investigation goes through without any impediment. We are at a stage now where we are looking at bank statements and recording statements from certain people, interviewing certain persons but again, as I said before, it is now a fly by night. The investigation must be done in a very meticulous manner to ensure that we don't miss nothing that we should pick up. Again, I want to ask the Belizean people because I have heard many things that nothing will be done, the police this and the police that. For me, people just need to understand sometimes that, looking from outside looking in, things look easy but when you are in the belly of the beast, that's when you know how difficult it is to do certain things and when I say difficult, I don't mean because of any kind of interference but difficult in the sense that, what needs to be done, there is a process in getting it done and we have to ensure that we follow the process because if we don't follow those process, then when you go to court, we'll be wasting time right. So we want to ensure that the investigation is done the right way."
