Here’s what police have to say about the second Central American Boulevard murder in less than a week:
Supt. Alejandro CowoÂ
OC, CIB Belize City
“On Friday the 6th of March just after 8:00 pm police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they observed Mr. Devon Arnold 24 years and Wayne Pratt 42 years both of them suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the body. Unfortunately, Mr. Devon Arnold passed away about an hour and a half later whilst receiving treatment what police gathered so far is that both of them along with other friends were standing in front of a shop on Central American Boulevard when they were approached by two male persons each who were armed with firearms who fires several shots at them causing the injuries. The fatal injuries to Mr. Arnold and the injuries to Mr. Wayne Pratt
So far police have in custody two persons that they are investigating at this moment
We believe it is due to an incident that happened last year. We believe it might be or have some connection to two other shootings that happened on Central American Boulevard.
We cannot be exactly sure if he was the intended target as there were many persons at that shop at the moment. I know that he and the other guy were the two that were injured but there were, I think, a total of four persons in the group.Â
Cherisse Halsall:Â
The family believes that the same person responsible for Usher’s murder is responsible for this murder, how do the police feel?
Supt. Alejandro CowoÂ
OC, CIB Belize City
We have that person in custody as I mentioned we have two persons in custody and they are being interviewed at the moment.
We have asked the public’s assistance in assisting us in this investigation. We know that there were several persons out there that saw what happened. We are asking them if they can please communicate with us so that we can solve this issue that is ongoing amongst these two sets of groups in that area.”Â
