We report now on a gun murder that happened Friday night in Dangriga Town. The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Eden Ramos Jr. a resident of that community.
Sometime around 8 p.m. last Friday, he was riding a bicycle on Yemeri Road in the "Back-a-town" area of Dangriga. A gunman opened fire and fatally injured him while he was on his way. He took his last breath at the location where he collapsed.
This afternoon, we got a chance to speak via telephone with Chico Ramos, the well-known Belizean Punta Rock musician, who is also the uncle of Eden Ramos Jr.
He told us that a few weeks ago, his nephew received some sort of beatdown, but the family had no idea that they would receive a call on Friday night that he was killed in a street-style execution.
Here's an excerpt of that conversation on Eden Ramos Jr:
Voice of: Herman "Chico" Ramos - Uncle of the Deceased

"Well, he was a cool, nice guy. He always has a smile on his face and is always willing to help out. He's mostly like a yardman, cleans people's yards, and runs errands for people, a handyman overall."

"Have you heard any explanation or any details as to what happened, why he was killed, how he was killed?"
Herman "Chico" Ramos
"So far no, we don't have a clue, not even a slight clue, nothing. That evening - I don't remember what time he got shot, but I was at my brother's house sometime like around 7:15, and he passed on his bike - or a bike, and we waved [at] each other."

"[It] must have been surprising, sir, since just a short while ago, you saw him-."
Herman "Chico" Ramos
"Very surprising, actually, it don't kick in until they sent me a picture with him on the ground. I spoke to my son yesterday, last night, and he told me about a week ago, prior to this shooting, that he saw him all beaten up. His face was busted up and things like that. But, as far as I was concerned, that was about it. Yes, he's known to the law, and things like that, but why I would like to say about this whole thing [is] he is known to the law, but not to that extent where someone came close-up and shot him. I don't know what terrible he could have done to someone for something like that to happen. I heard about a lot of things like petty stuff. I don't see it amounting to a life being taken for some petty stuff. I don't think life is equal to that." Police information suggests that at the time of Ramos's shooting, 2 men were walking in the opposite direction, and after he was shot, they immediately fled the scene of the crime."
