Imagine settling in for the night with your family only to be startled by three loud bangs and just then, your front door being kicked in.

That's the experience that Mackenzie street resident Norman Mackenzie said he, his common-law wife, and their young daughter were forced to endure last night when the police arrived with what they said were a very unique set of orders.

He says they beat him unjustly leaving him bruised, battered, and BEX. This evening he told our cameras how the incident unfolded.

This is what Norman Mackenzie's front door looked like this morning after the police forced it open. He says their visit came as quite a surprise to him since he had just returned from one of their gang mediations.

"Well mommy we got an order stating that we had to go to a peace treaty meeting you understand so we attended the meeting during the day and at night now I was home me and my baby and my common-law-woman and the police they stamped down my door and told me this was a special order to beat me you understand and the same way they gave me a medical form and then they weren't even assisting me that's why I came to you guys look at the bruises in my back, you know."

"This is a special order that is what the policemen came to us and said. They choked me, pepper-sprayed me, there's my stained shirt, in my eye, They busted my eye, you understand. Even my four-year-old baby got her hands sprayed by Pepper spray, you understand this is pass RASS, you understand."

"So, what are they trying to do now? They're trying to make us as individuals cooperate with them but they aren't cooperating with me right and I'm in pain you understand but if they don't want this, better we go through the court."

"See my door there, my door is broken, my fence is torn down, you understand it was just a beating. We couldn't even ask them if they had a warrant, no warrant you understand this is past foolishness same way mommy we are human beings too."

And it's that humanity and its right to peace of mind that Mackenzie says he'll do everything in his power to protect.

"We did live past their life but why, they are trying to have us go back into that insanity, the same way so. And if they're intimidating us better we go back to the streets."

Mackenzie says he's already filed a report with the Professional standards branch.
