Last week we told you about the 18-year-old girl who reported to police that she had been followed by a man in a Fabrigas truck who attempted to lure her into the vehicle. It was a traumatic experience for her, and reports are that other young girls also came forward after she made her report. However, despite all that, the police did not charge the driver of the truck. Today the ComPol said he didn't actually commit any crimes.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"I know yes the vehicle was intercepted in the Corozal District and a person who is an employee of Fabrigas was found with the vehicle. There were complaints the he tried to lure a female into the vehicle and the woman did not do so. Based on what I was told by the investigators, there was nothing to indicate that a crime was actually committed. That person was kept in custody for as long as 48 hours while the investigators were trying, were probing to see if they would come up with anything and I think they did not. We would have to look at the criminal code again, look at the aspect that deals with assault to see if there's anything there that we would be prosecute that person for but so far the investigator has not found anything, no."
Reporter:
"He did not try to haul her in?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"No, he did not come out of the vehicle, he was in the vehicle and was just inviting her to get into the vehicle."
