A late-night police chase on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, ended dramatically when a police mobile veered into a ditch after the officers came under fire.
The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. when a police Corporal and Constable, returning from a shooting investigation in the Another World area of Roaring Creek Village, spotted two men on a motorcycle matching the description of suspects.
As the officers attempted to intercept the motorcycle, the riders quickly made a U-turn. One of the suspects then fired on the police, causing the Corporal who was driving the vehicle, to brake abruptly and veer into a ditch. The suspects fled the scene but one of them was later detained. This evening, police formally arrested and charged 21 year old Asher Mendoza for (2) Counts of Attempted Murder, (2) Counts of Use of Deadly Means of Harm and (2) Counts of Aggravated Assault.
