Tonight, police are sharing a little more information about the attempted hit on Free Zone businessman Nitin Buxani. It happened at the mile 8 speed bump at 5:40 on Thursday evening - which is a busy time on the highway.

Today, the police staff officer held a briefing via zoom and filled in some of the missing information on this daring attempted murder:

ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer
"This shooting incident resulted in the injury of Nitin Buxani and Rene Arnold despite being injured. Arnold, who was the driver of the vehicle, was able to proceed to a medical institution where they both sought treatment."

Jules Vasquez
"Are you able to speak about what type of rounds were used? We saw at least 19 markers on the ground."

ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer

"The scene which was processed showed that the shells are related to a nine millimeter ammunition."

Jules Vasquez
"What are the concerns for police in the police district, eastern area, as they see someone from the zone being targeted in what looks like an attempted hit?"

ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer
"The concerns from the police department hinges primarily on the fact that this was a highway. It was around 5:40 p.m. A lot of persons were traveling that area so certainly it is something that has raised great concern with the police department and we are pursuing all investigative leads that we have so far discovered in an effort to successfully bring this investigation to a conclusion."

Jules Vasquez
"Now, an SPU vehicle was in the area at the same time and I don't believe it was able to respond due to just as I'm told how the traffic was moving etc. But do you all have any leads on what sort of suspects may be involved?"

"Do you have any idea if the suspects are from outside the country or are they local gun man?"

ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer
"It's an ongoing investigation and the information will be disclosed that it becomes necessary to do so."

Jules Vasquez
"Are you able to speak about the the condition of the gentlemen and the report we have received that they remain on a heavy police guard. Actually police officers working special duty to guard them. Are you able to address that?"

ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer
"Well certainly I believe there would be some concern and valuable concern on Mr. Buxani's part, because he was the target of a shooting incident and if it is that he sought protection in that regard, I believe that is what any person who has the means to do so would do."

We'll keep following the story.
