Belize City police are investigating an attempted murder after a construction worker was shot while inside his apartment last night. Around 9:55 police received reports of a shooting at the Bingo King Apartments on Faber's Road Extension.
Police went to the hospital where they found 23-year-old Kaylen Thompson, suffering from gunshot injuries to the body.
Police learned that around 9:45, Thompson and his common-law wife, 29-year-old Andra Diaz, were inside their room with the door closed when an unknown person fired several shots through the door, injuring Thompson.
The shooter then fled in an unknown direction. The scene was processed and photographed by Scenes of Crime technician Daniel Daniels, where several expended shell casings were recovered.
Police say the motive for the shooting remains unknown.
