The first ever Miss Teen Belize Rural will be chosen tomorrow night in Double Head Cabbage.

Organizers say the contest will be more about education than just good looks. The purpose is to help build awareness and raise funds for the 10 villages from Burrell Boom to Rancho Dolores. The contestants stopped by our studio s today and gave Keith a preview of tomorrow's show. And in a weekend where there will be a number of other beauty pageants, he asked why Miss Teen Belize Rural should be on your weekend to-do list.

Kay McFadzean, Pageant Organizer
“Its not a beauty pageant its geared so that all the communities that are linked closely together in Belize Rural can know the history of each village so they can appreciate each other.”

KS: So it’s not a beauty pageant?

Kay McFadzean,
“Its not based solely on beauty.”

KS: There are going to be about 5 other beauty pageants across the country this weekend. Why should people go to this pageant?

Kay McFadzean,
“Well I would say because this one is more unique. It is the first of its kind and it will give people who come a chance to get the history of each village and know they are all about.”

Tomorrow's Miss Teen Belize Rural begins at 7:30 at the Double Head Cabbage community center. Tickets are $5.
