There's no shortage of female beauty contests in Belize and there are also a few male competitions. But you'd be hard-pressed to find a Miss and Mister contest. That will be the case Saturday night when 4 girls and 4 boys compete in the Second Annual Miss and Mister SJC Junior College. What's it all about? Keith Swift was at rehearsals today and he spoke the coordinators who said that it is being held, for the second running, to show that there is more to life at SJC Junior College than the academics.

Stacia McGann, SJC Pageant Committee
"Its more a mixture of everything. We have talent and beauty to show that SJC is not only about books; we are talented people as well. We are versatile, we are gifted with many things, so its just a showcase of talent, beauty, knowledge; everything."

Maria Waight, Reigning Miss SJC (2004)
"Its more for the fun and to showcase talent because we have a lot of talented students here at SJC. And actually some of the proceeds that we get from the pageant will be donated to charity so it's a good thing as well. I really encourage the public to come out, to see the talent that we have here at SJC, and to support a good cause as well."

It will be $10 for general seating and $15 for reserved. The contest begins at 7 pm at the Bliss Center.
