He sees dead people, or dead artists at least. Joel Robinson calls himself Bob Marley's biggest fan and has held posthumous tribute concerts for Bob, Peter Tosh, Garnett Silk, Dennis Brown and now James Brown and Otis Redding. And more than just a fan of these legends, Robinson may be the slickest promoter on the scene, because he doesn't have to worry about putting his artists in a hotel, flying them in or paying their high performance premiums, he just gets a DVD and a big screen and he's got an instant classic tribute. He told us about his Father's Day tribute for legends Otis and James and why these soul men matter to Belize.

Joel Robinson,
"Otis and James Brown and get a little funk and all kind of music but music from the 60s, 70s. Those guys sing from their heart. Those guys just don't sing rubbish, it is music which touches you and even some of the performers, on the big screen you will see how serious those guys were in their music.

A lot of people listen to Otis and he sounded like a big man but if you even see his picture, Otis died at the young age of 26, when he was in his prime. So Otis Redding for me is loved by Belizeans just like Bob Marley."

Robinson's tribute is on Saturday at the Faiyah Haat Restaurant.
