Faced with the threat of Felix, yesterday the carnival road march was postponed and all September celebration events were put on pause. Well tonight we can you tell that the shows will go on - that's the word from Belize City Mayor Zenaida Moya. Mayor Moya, who sits on the September Celebrations Steering Committee, told us that her council will be moving full steam ahead with the September celebrations.

Zenaida Moya, Mayor of Belize City
"We only have a few days before the tenth September and the Belize City Council, we have our two day municipal multi-cultural fair which will be held this Sunday and Monday the ninth and tenth of September right at the Old Belize City Technical College Compound and so the entire council, while we will be trying to prepare the offices to offer services back to customers and residents and assisting in terms of getting the city back in order, we will be moving full speed ahead in assisting residents to get back into the September celebrations spirit."

The Belize Poets Showdown and Special Awards was scheduled for tonight. As far as we know -that event is still on hold. As for the carnival, the association will meet tomorrow but the bands are saying that they are not ready for Saturday because they loss 48 hours of critical preparation time. A decision will be made tomorrow evening.
