Extra House Supermarket is providing the groceries and the City Council will be providing the cooks. It can't save the city but it is a plan that can feed the homeless at least twice a month. And that's just what the City Council started today. At noon Mayor Zenaida Moya and her city councilors handed out food to 200 homeless persons in Battlefield Park. Mayor Moya says it is their small way of giving back.

"I know officially we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Belize but its just another day that we felt that hey, why not take the opportunity to give back to the homeless. We teamed up with Extra House and we were able to cater for 250 needy persons, a delicious rice and beans chicken, salad, stuffing and juice."
Mayor Moya says that Extra House has agreed to provide them with groceries every two weeks to continue the program.
