A family of three from Biscayne Village is the lucky winner of a two thousand five Lexus car valued at forty five thousand dollars. The drawing one of the biggest raffles was held by Xtra House Shopping Centre on Orange Street and attracted over eighteen thousand ticket holders who got a ticket by spending fifty dollars at the store. Today 7NEWS caught up with the winners Edmund Flowers, his wife Barbara Flowers and their daughter Dalia Flowers when they showed up this morning to officially receive the keys to their new set of wheels. According to Edmund Flowers, they spent about five hundred dollars during the month of December but they still did not expect to win.
Edmund Flowers,
“I feel great, beautiful – I screamed out.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
What did you do to enter the raffle to win?
Edmund Flowers,
“Well we spent about $500 grocery and then we filled out the paper.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
You are the owner of a vehicle already so what you plan to do with the Lexus?
Edmund Flowers,
“Well I’ll keep it.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
Would you say this was the or one of the biggest raffles that XTra House has had for its customers?
Jack Charles,
“Well that was the biggest one so far. We did CDs and all those things before and giving out telephone cards but this was the biggest ones so far and it turned out to be a grade A success.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
At the end of the day how many raffle tickets were dropped into this barrel?
Jack Charles,
“We gave out tickets, almost like 80,000 tickets.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
Tell us about this car Mr. Edmund Flowers won.
Jack Charles,
“Well this is a 2005 Lexus and it is well equipped completely; it has DVD players and it is something a person would like to dream about.”
Barbara Flowers,
“I just screamed. I was so happy to see that it wasn’t a rich person that won it. It is a poor one noh and dah we.”
And true to his words following our interview with the jubilant family, Edmund, Barbara and Dalilia Flowers drove off in their Lexus.
