As you can tell by this poppy on my blouse - the annual launch of the Red Flower Poppy appeal was held today.

The observance of Belize's veterans of world wars one and two culminates in November, but the Belize Ex Servicemen's league started their awareness and fund raising efforts today.

Ex-servicemen champion Bernard Adolphus told us why we must remember our veterans:…

Bernard Adolphus, Belize Ex-servicemen League
"If our Belizeans didn't go forward and assist with the war effort with others in the Caribbean it would have been a different story. Mr. Hitler would have had his own way and perhaps you and I would not have been speaking together definitely because Mr. Hitler was looking for the perfect species person; white blue eyes, tall, big person and that was not so. So when the world realizes what Hitler was doing they decide to form a team to get rid of him and that took place. as a result of what the allies did it brought Germany to its knees particularly the RAF, the RAF was a tremendous

_background and some of our men were pilots in that area. If it wasn't because of these men and women who went forward perhaps it would have been a different Belize. So what I am saying is that they have done their path and we have to support those people who are left behind, that's the main thing our conscience should be clear, we should help all our veterans, we should help them and I am asking, requesting the public to support the poppy campaign and buy a poppy, wear a poppy. School children, grandparents wear your poppy in a symbolic gesture in remembrance in those who have fallen, those who are still here and those who have made the sacri_fice."

Poppies are available and donations can be made at booths which will be set up on major streets and in banks…
