Tonight, Jules Vasquez and Janelle Chanona are in Trinidad collecting individual awards for stories that aired on 7News. It's called the Caribbean Population Awards, a competition that was opened to the entire region and again this year 7news excelled - nabbing two of the four awards given for television.

Jules won for his feature titled, "Chiquibul the Silent Invasion" which took viewers into the heart of the depleted forest Reserve - where Guatemalans are logging, hunting and farming in open defiance of Belizean law and authority.

Janelle won for her story, Children With Cancer, The Belizean Reality - which took a compelling - often devastating - look into the struggles of two children living with cancer. The ceremony is underway at the Hilton Trinidad in Port Of Spain right now and we'll have pictures in tomorrow's newscast.

But tonight, we'll show you one of the award winning stories as we go back to December of 2009 when 7news took news cameras into the heart of the Chiquibul Forest for the first time. Here's what they found….

That was one of a four part series. Tune in tomorrow night when we'll repeat Janelle Chanona's award winning entry, Children With Cancer, The Belizean Reality. At the ceremony, that just finished in Trinidad, Jules Vasquez's story won the night's top honor, the platinum prize.
