They are teaching youths how to work together as a team, and to illustrate this the YMCA held a carwash this afternoon with 5 of their student members, teaching the boys how to use a power washing machine and other useful tools. Here's how it went.
Clara Cuellar, Executive Director YMCA

"Today we are putting into place one of the programs we use for youths to learn good skills in terms of employment in the future so as you can see and I know you took some photos, teaching them a good layout for something like a drive out they have to come out do all the measurements we had to laydown the pipes these are not normally here and so they are learning the processes and procedures in this case in a car wash and that gives them the opportunity to learn new skills new vocabulary and to put it in action for example everybody likes to use a power wash but now learning it properly and moving the hose around without slipping off the power wash or either the electrical cord or the plumbing system they have to figure that out so it's a lot of how to learn so that they can use it for the next project we do whether that being painting the building doing gardening problem solving on the spot and working as a team on the spot because they need each other to get this done."
"All the funds go back to their program all of these youths and those who will be here on Saturday they are attending about including the primary school youths they attend about 15 different schools and when they come here they are able to get the use of computers for whatever assignments they have they have free internet, free printing and all the project parts and components they need."

Devaughn Lopez,Wesley College Student
"These skills are very helpful to me just in case that I get a car in the future in my adulthood when I have a job and thing so If I ever have to get my car cleaned instead of going to other businesses I can do it myself so that helps me in the future to save more money."
"The best part of this experience has been enjoying my time and getting that experience I need for my upcoming ages."
"The one thing I have learned from this is that everything we do here at the YMCA is teamwork because teamwork, if we work as a team we can accomplish any goal we want."
