And in other news, coast guard officers rescued two Canadians who were aboard a vessel in distress about two miles south of Hat Caye, at Lighthouse Reef.

Yesterday, at around 10:12pm, a sailing vessel named "Jolie Brise II" was found, grounded with about two feet of water in the cabin. The Canadians were rescued and taken to the Half Moon case where they received assistance. This morning, at 6:10 am, the coast guard and the Belize Audubon Society conducted an initial assessment on the extent of the damage to the reef and vessel. The vessel will need a salvage operation which will be guided by the Department of the Environment and the Belize Port Authority. The two Canadians were then taken to Belize City where the BPA, BPD, Immigration Department, DOE and Department of Health took over the case.
