And while that housing assessment is from the city - the rural Belize District was also hit very hard. The damage to those communities hasn't really been highlighted - but that is now the task that Housing is following up on:

"We know that Belize Rural was very hard hit as the storm went along. I've seen many compromise structures from Belize Rural. Will you all be making an assessment of the Belize District and those rural areas?"

"Yes, actually we have teams currently on the ground today working in the rural areas outside of Belize City and the ministry has also been instrumental in assisting various ministries with assessment with public buildings as well. What we did was we took a strategic approach in working along with the ministry of education in addressing any damages that were identified to several shelters in the Belize District."
