Belize Aggressor Runs Aground Near Lighthouse Reef

Tonight, the Belize Aggressor, a dive boat remains grounded near Lighthouse Caye at the Aquarium dive site.

It got stuck there last Thursday and has not yet been removed due to mooring issues. According to the chief environmental officer, the team at DOE has not been able to conduct a damage assessment of the coral cover until the vessel is removed.

He informed us today that the vessel owner is preparing a salvage plan which must first be approved before they can begin to make preparations to remove the aggressor from off the reef. Until then an in depth assessment will be finalized
