Untitled Document Joggers and cyclists who use Marion Jones Stadium are currently concerned about the state of the track. On either side it has overgrown bushes and mangrove, which serve as habitat for crocodiles and snakes. At least one croc was seen in the middle of the track during the day. In addition, the bushes make it unsafe for persons to use since they cannot be seen from the other side or from the bleachers.
One cyclist, Colville Murillo, explained that he's tried to get it taken care of to no avail. And now, the government is directing him to get it done himself. Here's what he explained.
Colville Murillo, Cyclist
"Some the kids that ride here, they tell me, sir we see some big crocodiles here so I reached out to the people here at the stadium and they told me they couldn't cut the place I have to do through Audubon. I reached out to Audubon and they pointed me into a different direction with Forestry, Forestry directed me back to Audubon, Audubon directed me back to the Sports Council."

"So it's been a back and forth, and during that time, what have you been hearing from the people who use the field?"
Colville Murillo, Cyclist
"One lady asked me, she said sir, don't leave yet until I finish my workout because she's scared of the situation here. Look how high the bush is so she's concerned about working out late in the evening and having all this high bush. Then again the school kids are telling me about crocodiles, they seen crocodiles. I haven't seen a crocodile but I've seen some huge snakes from one side of the road going across."
"They stopped people from bringing their pets in because of that crocodile situation. I don't know why they didn't put up signs saying no pets but the guy on the ground says no more pets are allowed in here."
"They just called me back and said go ahead and get it cleaned so it's not them who's gonna cleaning, it's the cycling association, the president of the cycling association who is going to pay to get it cleaned, Mr Glen Flowers."
Reporter:
"But considering you guys are just users, you don't own the track, how shocking was it for you to hear they say, go ahead and do it?"
Colville Murillo, Cyclist
"Yeah it was a little bit out of the ordinary because we thought the government would take care of this but I guess it's because the cyclists want to use it and we usually have track races here, Mr Ordonez and Mike Lewis usually have track races here so in order for us to use it I guess, if we want to use it, we gotta get it cleaned."
"It's sad that Mr Flowers has to take money out of his pocket to get this cleaned, this is here for everybody so, and we want everybody to be safe in here, if there's crocodile or not, I haven't seen one, but I understand they're here. We just want everybody to be safe. If you look at the bleachers, you can hardly see the bleachers because the place is overgrown. If you take a look at this sign it's way in the bush. So that's our concern."
