But will these new E Taxi's be able to navigate streets that turn into rivers when the June rains arrive? The Mayor says the Council's already preparing for the rainy season - and shared which areas they've been working on so far.

Bernard Wagner, Belize City Mayor
"We have been doing significant work, actually next week we are supposed to focus on 4 flood prone areas like Berkley street and canal side. We are looking at the Pound Yard bridge area, we are looking at the Freetown street by the gas station and by King street as well, so those 4 flood prone areas are focus areas for us to really deal with."

"Get into the drain and really get an understanding of how the water runs during flood times so we are able to alleviate that sort of flooding in the city, so far that has been going good."

"You are never ready for rainy season, you just try to mitigate as best as you can through the dry season. But as the rain comes you are hoping you will be able to assess if the work you put in really has worked and so we know what we are up against so we are prepared to drive that sort of clean up campaign in those areas."
