On February 1st we introduced you to 30 year old Llewellyn Meighan – a 600 pound morbidly obese man who was battling the bulge. As he told us then – it was a fight for life or death and over the weekend he lost the battle. He died in his home on Saturday morning.

His family says that after feeding him breakfast, Big Lue asked to lie down because he wasn’t feeling well. A short while later he stopped breathing. A doctor certified the cause of death as complications of obesity. Big Lue had been released from the KHMH on Friday where he was hospitalized for 9 days. Because of his weight, a forklift was reportedly needed to remove Big Lue from his home on Castle Street. His body also isn’t at the KHMH’s morgue since it was too big.

Since our story aired on February 1st – the family says Big Lue had started to lose weight and was optimistic. He still however couldn’t afford the surgery to remove the huge growths on his legs known as lymphodema. His family says it took a lot for Big Lue to tell his story back in February and they regret that he never got the help he needed.
