Infant Seriously Burnt in San Pedro Fire

A six month old infant is in serious condition after getting third degree burns in a fire in San Pedro this afternoon. Her name is reported as Yara Lara and she is being treated at the San Pedro Polyclinic for burns to her head, face and hands. She was reportedly in the upper flat of the building nearest the streets with her mother and two other children.

This video from the San Pedro Sun shows two homes – both wooden structures in the Eliot subdivision, at the corner of Esmeralda and Swan Streets on fire. It started at about 3:15 and both structures housed in one lot were destroyed. The fire was contained within half an hour. We’ll have an update on the infant’s condition tomorrow.
