We report on many shootings that don't result in fatalities, and sometimes we say, "fortunately, so-and-so survived", or that the "injuries were not life threatening." And that's usually the end of it, the media moves unto the next event, in the expectation and hope that shooting victim recovers. But there is no happily ever after for one victim, whose shooting was not even reported. It happened on a night of terror at BTL park, December 15, 2012 when a concert featuring local artists erupted into public terror after a gang brawl broke out and three salvos of shots were fired. Hundreds of terrified concert goers made a desperate dash for safety: four persons were stabbed and one shot. Tonight, one of those victims is in the fight of his life. 22 year old Gregory Jones who claims that he was socializing with his girlfriend has been left paralyzed from his chest down and is suffering from a terrible, consuming case of bedsores which is causing him to nasty infections. His family told 7news today that they are trying to get better medical assistance for him across the border.

Doreen Jones - Aunt of Gregory Jones

"December 15th, 2012 he got shot at the BTL park and since then he's paralyzed from here to downward (showing legs area). He and his girlfriend were socializing and apparently he got shot. I don't think the prognosis for walking is possible except only if it's a miracle he can walk again. Right now he's not breathing well on his own. I understand he has pneumonia and he also has an infection and he has some very bad ulcers known as 'bed sores' that take over his body and it's really in a bad state."

"Is he conscious?"

Doreen Jones
"Yes his voice is very heavy at the moment and he's breathing is very low. He needs five pint of blood because the doctors wants to do a surgery whereby they will put a bag for him to stool in."

Monica Bodden
"Now tell me what are you guys planning to do? What's the next move?"

Doreen Jones
"What we wanted to do is we wanted to move him from the hospital and take him to Chetumal if it is possible with the hospital and see if we could get some medical attention there. We hear that they have some doctors that can assist in that kind of situation."

Monica Bodden
"You guys are planning on having a fund raising event?"

Doreen Jones
"Yes we are planning on having a bar-b-q on Saturday but we're asking for any contribution that would want to contribute to us they can contact me at my cell number at 635-6747."

If you would like to assist Gregory Jones, you can do so to Belize Bank account number 6-9-5-2-2-3-1-1-8-7-9. Also, the bar-b-q sale will be held on Bishop Street in Sikaffy's empty lot.
