But is the associated right to protest causing a super-spreader risk?
We asked the health minister about the possible public health risks posed by these ongoing protests.
The unions have been approaching those risks with caution while pulling out increasing numbers - like the 900 you saw yesterday.
The Minister told us today, however, that he hopes that their right to freedom of expression does not lead to a sudden spike in the number of new infections in the weeks to come:
Hon. Michel Chebat - Minister of Health and Wellness
"We are very much concerned with the accumulation of numbers, and we keep on insisting, and while we respect the right to strike and so forth, we ask as best as they can to continue to maintain the public health measures, the social distancing, the wearing of masks. So, thankfully, up to now, we have not, indeed, seen a spike in the numbers resulting from the strike, but you do know that the incubation period could be anywhere between 4 to 7 days. So, it's still an event that we're monitoring very closely."
