COVID Numbers Coming Up In San Pedro

Lately, our newsroom has been getting multiple reports of COVID regulations not being followed in San Pedro Town. Nightclubs and bars are wide open, and parties are not shut down. It seems those reports are manifesting themselves in increasing cases on the island. Yesterday, we saw two new cases and today, there are six.

And the remaining 36 cases were seen in every district. 17 of them were in Toledo - with 9 of those being from Midway - and 7 were in Orange Walk - five being from the town. Five were found in Cayo, four in Stann Creek, two in Belize, and one in Corozal.

There are currently 12 active hospitalizations, with two persons in the ICU. No new deaths were reported today, and there were 24 recoveries. Active cases stand at 322.
