Turning now to health news…

A few weeks ago you heard the Minister of Health say that he would like to see the KHMH become a public hospital that would fall under his ministry. While he stated that that's not the direction the government is leaning towards yet, he added that when there are calls or concerns about KHMH, it's MOHW that gets them, despite the hospital having a board.

But it was during Said Musa's administration that the KHMH authority was set up - at the time it was seen as progressive. So we asked his son, Kareem Musa, yesterday what he thought of Bernard's position.

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
"That is a matter again that is still under consideration. I know that, the KHMH has been doing an excellent job. Of course, there is still a lot of room for improvement when it comes to our public hospital. And I think on the last occasion in the House of Representatives, the Honorable Tracy Taeger Panton had raised a critical issue which was the citizenry's ability, or rather their accessibility to getting their death, cause of death certificates from the hospital or proof of birth certificates, as the case may be, because it may be that they have outstanding bills. That is one of the crucial areas that we're looking at. But at the same time, in terms of the overall management of the hospital, I think KHMH has been doing a good job. But we do have to look at ways to improve the situation at our national referral hospital, whether that means going into a public hospital or not, that is still something that we are deliberating."
