This weekend is the much-anticipated La Ruta Maya River Challenge. And after two years of curfews and masks, Belizeans are ready to let loose. But safety must still be a priority and at many times, these events lead to drinking and reckless driving. That's why, the Department of Transport and the Police Department will be out in full force from March 4th to March 7th in Cayo and Belize. According to a release, the operation will focus primarily on the offenses of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, passengers not properly seated in motor vehicles, failure to use seatbelt, and failure to use protective helmet.
