And in other news, one woman's frustration has reached its limits after she's received no help three weeks after Hurricane Lisa. Onike Wade is renting a downstairs home in the Jane Usher area, and during the storm, the upper flat was completely destroyed, causing her own home to flood, and destroying most of her possessions. Apart from soaked mattresses, furniture, and clothes, the switch box blew out, causing her appliances - including her brand new refrigerator and the computer she uses for work - to stop working.
So, weeks later, she's still living in a hurricane damaged home that floods when it rains, has no electricity, and only few groceries, meanwhile her two young kids are unable to go to school and she is unable to work.
But her main focus right now is trying to find a new place to call home, but she's been hitting a dead end, and, in desperation, is now turning to the public for assistance. We spoke with her today.
Wade says she's been visited by NEMO, Red Cross, and Ministry of Human Development, but has gotten no assistance. If you would like to assist her, she can be reached at phone number 620-9749.
