And while the mistakes and excesses of the past may be the news of the present, that seemed to be hardly a bother to the Prime Minister today, as he was back doing what he does best, that is, taking a political tour. The Prime Minister was in the Corozal Southwest Division speaking to students at Escuela Mexico High School about the virtues of staying in school, and added commentary on some social issues. Musa says Belize's macho culture has taken women for granted.

Said Musa, Prime Minister
"There was a time when we were the dominant partner but we abused this dominance you see. We abused this dominance and the young women had to fight to catch up and in the process of fighting to catch up they have overtaken us. And the reason why they have overtaken us is because like I said the whole macho thing that we came out of as part of our Latin American and Caribbean countries where the men seem to think we can do what we like to our women. The women have revolted. They call it liberation. It's a kind of liberation but in Belize anyway they have gone about it in a very quiet way. Instead they studied hard, they went to school and they studied hard and today when you look at the statistics it is the women, the young women, who are the outstanding students "

Also on today's list of stops were 5 villages in the division where the Prime Minister was accompanied by political officer Gregorio Garcia and his wife, SSB CEO Narda. During the tour Musa met with village councils and community leaders who shared their concerns and problems. In Buena Vista the PM checked in on a water system which will be opened next week.
