Elena Smith is No. 2 on Social Security Board

Elena Smith is known as a union firebrand, and insiders say she's the toughest nut to crack on the Social Security Board of Directors, and now she's the deputy chairman of that board. That's right, the St. Ignatius Schoolteacher sill now sit at the right hand of Chairman Michel Chebat. The deputy seat is rotated to the various representatives, and as one of the union representatives, smith was voted to take the seat by the NTUCB by the unions.

In other Social Security news, the Board is moving closer to hiring a general manager to replace Narda Garcia. Interviews with 3 applicants were held over the weekend, and the board is expected to make its final selection shortly.
