The Universal debt debacle is the headline on the news, it dominates morning talk on the radio, and it's on the front of every newspaper. But what about the streets? Today the 7NEWS team hit downtown Belize City to find out what people think about the UHS debt. We asked if they think taxpayers should shoulder the $33 million and here's what they said.

KS: How do you feel about the whole Universal debt situation?
Woman #1: Bad, real bad.
KS: What you mean bad, explain.
Woman #1: Because we shouldn't have to pay $33 million.
KS: If you were in the House of Representatives, how would you vote?
Woman #1: Vote against it.

Man #1: I prefer not to discuss. As far as I am concerned, I would want to shoot down all of them.
KS: Well we don't want it to come that.
Man #1: It is not what you want you know, it is what will happen. That will happen sooner than later.
KS: If you were in the House would you vote for or against it?
Man #1: Against boss, that is against.

Woman #2: I am just really not surprised. It's another money thing with the government, nothing new.
KS: But do you have a problem with taxpayers paying the Universal debt?

Woman #2: Of course.

KS: How do you and your wife feel about this whole Universal debt?
Man #2: I guess we'll have to pay. I guess we don't feel good about it. Things are already hard already.
KS: You think we should have to pay for Universal's debt?
Man #2: Definitely not, we shouldn't have to pay for that.

Man #3: The only thing I can tell you is that they need to keep that open.
KS: So we have to pay to keep it open?
Man #3: We need that to stay open.

Man #4: We can't afford to pay this and it is imperative that the Belizean people on Friday drop whatever they had plans, stop what they would do and come to Belmopan to send a serious message to the political leaders that it will not blow over like a 'lil breeze. We Belizeans do not believe we should pay any part of that $33 million.

Man #5: My thing on that is the people have the strength and they

have to rise up and be strong, choose your government.
KS: But should taxpayers have to pay for Universal?
Man #5: There's an obvious answer to that question.

Man #6: Right now I am not really following on it.
KS: You've heard about the $33 million, you think taxpayers should have to pay that?
Man #7: No I don't believe so.

Woman #3: I don't know what to say about that. I don't think taxpayers should pay for it.
KS: You're not old enough to vote but if you were, would you vote for someone who supported paying the debt?
Woman #3: Nope
