Education Minister Patrick Faber is acting Prime Minister tonight after Prime Minister Dean Barrow left the country today. The PM is headed for Antigua where he will attend the twenty-fourth meeting of the Bureau of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM. He also assumes the Chairmanship of the conference for the next 6 months.
Included on the agenda are the implementation of the controversial Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union and declining fortunes in tourism in the wake of the global financial meltdown. The Prime Minister is accompanied by Financial Advisor Alan Slusher, and his CEO Audrey Wallace.
Faber will hold over as prime minister until tomorrow when Deputy Prime Minister Gaspar Vega returns to the country.
