Earlier we showed you Marcel Cardona, who’s been exiled to the last seat on the back bench, his former Cabinet colleague, Juan Coy who also got an executive reprimand this week still kept his spot on the backbench. And that’s because he is only suspended not kicked out of Cabinet. But he will lose his Ministerial salary and revert to a Representative’s salary for those six months a difference of a fair chunk of change - about 20 thousand dollars annually. He will keep his vehicle but that’s because he owns it – with the help of a government loan.

But his demise – however temporary - represents an opportunity for another backbencher, and Corozal North Representative Nemencio Acosta has been picked as the man to stand in for Coy. So effective today, Acosta has been named as temporary Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Development and Social transformation.
