You can see Housing Minister Michael Finnegan outside Brad’s Store in the Farmer’s Market on many weekday afternoons and just about every Saturday morning.
And while the Farmer’s Market is the hangout spot for Finnegan and other members of the UDP glitterati, soon, Finnegan will have his own market – or at least one named after him.
The City council today sent out invitation to the official launching of the “Michael Finnegan Market Project.” That’s right the Queen Square Market will be named the Michael Finnegan Market when it is re-opened.
Finnegan can tell his own story – but is considered the UDP with the strongest hold on what political tacticians call a garrison division – his is in Mesopotamia. In the 2008 General election, he had the greatest margin of victory of any UDP candidate.
Of course, he’s also a close, loyal and enduring political ally of the oft-embattled Mayor Zenaida Moya – and when they’re naming council-managed markets in the city, that can’t hurt.
The groundbreaking is on Monday and we’ll have that for you then.
