Last night we told you about the UDP convention in corozal Bay in which incumbent Pablo Marin blew out his challenger Hilberto Campos and Kennard Smart.

It's a convincing win for Marin - over 900 votes - but it has left the constituency rife with division and factionalization.

Campos's supporters feel they were cheated and that core of support includes divisional stalwarts. At the convention on Sunday we asked them what next after the divisive convention:..

Jules Vasquez
"Held up the UDP in this area when you all were in this are for 20 years or so. How is it that you all have quickly turned against your first UDP representative in so long?"

David Akierman, Campos Campaign Manager

"One; and this is my personal; Mr. Marin is not a team player. There was commitment with the Mayor in 2008 that one would take care of the situations in Belmopan and one would take care of the situations in Corozal. In fact he was even invited to separate the political office from his office and for him to have his office at the town council and he refuse, transparency."

Jules Vasquez
"Something must have gone wrong along the line Pablo for men like Dave Akierman, Carlos Castillo, stalwarts for Corozal Bay for UDP all those years of losing for them to have change alliances and turn against you. You must have done something wrong."

Hon. Pablo Marin, incumbent Representative
"You want to know the truth?"

Jules Vasquez
"I would like to."

Hon. Pablo Marin, incumbent Representative

"The truth is that Pablo Marin was elected for the people, I am working for red and blue or whatever color and that's what they don't like. They tell me that I have to do the same thing like the PUP is doing; they always hurt the UDP, so you need to do that, you cannot give any scholarship or no grant to any PUP. But if you see someone with a 3.5 or a 3.0 and they cannot afford and they are a PUP, I cannot stop that I have to help them and they want to control and tell me what to do and that will never happen."

Jules Vasquez
"Win, lose or draw, are you able after this to hug up back with Pablo and say 'boy we are UDP and we have to.....'"

David Akierman, Campos Campaign Manager
"We had presented a document last week and said that win or lose we wanted to be part of the team for 2013 and he was not too particular about that so at the ending of the day we will see Jules."

Hon. Pablo Marin, incumbent Representative
"In their part every single day they are taking out different flyers talking negative about us, they are going around the streets with a music talking bad about me. Now if they lose then we will open our arms."

A good test of the UDP's standing in the division will come in three weeks when the PUP hold their contested convention in the area..
