But the fact that the press got the letter from the GG before the PM saw it - seemed to rankle the head of government. He went on a Kind of tirade about disloyal public officers who - he feels - leak out all the government's business - many times without any good reason:

"That goes to show you the problems right now that we have at Public Service, a few members, not everybody, please, that are there just to try to undermine our Government. Everything that we do they release. Why is it that they did not do that for the past 13 years? If they would have done that earlier then maybe we wouldn't have been in such a shithole. Yes it is wrong to do that to release the letter that was sent to me. Not that it is any secret. Obviously we would have made it known when it would have come to my attention. It is wrong. It is actually under the regulations that public officers should not be releasing the information. Jules you wouldn't want your employee to issue out, maybe they give you a contract and it says: bwai I just get a big contract from BTL, you know?"

"That's a private company you are managing public funds- the people's money."

"It is the same thing we are managing public funds but there is a way how to do things. There is still managing a business."

"But yet you are implementing a whistleblower's legislation to protect people like those."
Hon. John Briceno
"No, the whislteblower's legislation is not to protect people like those. It is to protect people that are exposing wrongdoing in government. Releasing a letter from the Governor General sent to me, that is not exposing wrongdoing."
