And today as we spoke to Deputy Commissioner Broaster acting as COMPOL, we could not help but marvel at how curious life in this little jewel can sometimes be.
Curious because before the general election, the PUP singled out Broaster for his place of registration - #1 Kelly Street - also known as Chon Saan Palace. That was labelled a safe house for Lee Mark Chang, who was Kareem Musa's UDP opponent. Of course, Musa won and is now the Police Minister. And, for this week and next at least, Broaster is his acting Commissioner of Police. Cute, right? We asked the Deputy Compol about this curious crossing of time and chance today:
Reporter
"In the run up to the elections, you were politically labeled for being registered as a voter on Kelly Street, a property linked to Li Mark Chang. You are now acting commissioner, when his former political opponent Kareem Musa is minister, are you struck by the irony of this?"
Edward Broaster, Acting Commissioner of Police
"No. I believe Hon. Kareem Musa is a fair individual and we have a great working relationship and he have all faith and trust in the good judgement of my professionalism in terms of service the Belizean people."
Reporter
"Fair and forgiving, sir?"
Edward Broaster, Acting Commissioner of Police
"Of course."
Broaster is set to retire later this year.
