The UDP special committee will meet at the end of the week to start deliberations on the future of John Saldivar in the UDP. And just as leader of the Opposition, Shyne Barrow promised, the party's chairman has written to the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to ask for more evidence which led to classify Saldivar as significantly corrupt.

In the letter dated November 24th, Michael Peyrefitte asks Blinken for disclosure of, quote, "whatever detailed information the US Department of state relied on to in order to designate former Minister of Government of Belize, John Saldivar for his alleged involvement in significant corruption under your laws." End quote.

Peyrefitte then explains that the UDP has a strong anti-corruption policy and wants to protect their democratic institutions from government officials who act with impunity. But to demonstrate fair play, he tells Blinken that they must also Saldivar due process before the Special Committee can make a decision, which is why they are requesting the information.

We'll let you know if the US State Department responds to Peyrefitte's request - but, we wouldn't hold our breaths.
