A few months ago we took you to the Prime Minister's office where G.O.B was meeting with retailers to try and get to the bottom of rising inflation affecting everyday goods that the general populace puts in their grocery basket every week.
Later they also met with wholesalers and importers who told them that the inflation was in fact imported along with the goods. But it seems that's still not good enough for the Chamber of Commerce who has produced its own list of what goods should cost, a list that the Minister of Agriculture Jose Mai isn't too happy about. Here's what he said when we asked him about it:
Jose Mai, Minister Of Agriculture
"I saw a release issued by the Chamber of commerce, I don't know who voted for them, we are a government elected by the people. The people nd us know that there is price gouging and the is inflation, it's real. When we invited the people to meet with us, the importers and the retailers who have stores the question should have been how many of them are on the chamber of commerce? I don't know, how much people run the chamber of commerce? So, when we discussed this in Cabinet and opened that list it is because the people are demanding that from us as a government and it's the people who voted for us. So, when they are saying that they were not consulted maybe they should go out and broaden their membership so that they are well represented when we meet with them."
"And so we need to get this done we expanded the list and now we are meeting with them reach a level of understanding to see, let us try to control the percentage on the profits on this so I don't know why that should be a problem with them."
