And we also asked the ComPol about issues he may be having with the CEO in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Sharole Saldivar Carr. Reports are that there was a dispute between the two of them after the ComPol said that the Guns and Ammunitions Board was unable to meet to iron out the issues regarding licenses for security companies. But today, Williams said that he and his CEO are just peachy, but that the matter of the gun licenses is completely out of his hands.
Courtney Menzies:
"Can you talk about a reported dispute that you are having with your CEO?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Dispute with my CEO? I don't have any dispute with my CEO."
Courtney Menzies:
"Regarding the comments you made I think when we asked about the security companies not being able to renew their licenses."

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"No, I have no issue with my CEO. Me and my CEO are well, we were together in Belmopan yesterday, there is no issue between me and my CEO."
Courtney Menzies:
"Can you give us an update on how that process for the security companies is going?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"It's a work in progress. I know for a fact that the board is meeting every Friday and there's a huge backlog for them to deal with and I guess the security companies just need to wait until the board reaches their application, there's a lot that they have to deal with."
Courtney Menzies:
"Isn't it concerning that these security guards, their job is to protect businesses or maybe sometimes even people and they're unarmed and maybe the criminals know this?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Well again, I am not the chair of the gun licensing and ammunition control board, it's the CEO. And again, if there's an issue that needs to be addressed where that is concerned, then I think that she's the proper authority to answer but I know for a fact that they are meeting and they're doing what they can to be able to address the issue."
