When she strode out of the City Centre a week ago, Zeniada Moya left a winner, but tonight she might find out what her opponent felt like. That's because Mayor Moya is going to the city center to try her luck not at politics, but at basketball. She'll be one of the women throwing it up for charity tonight at the City Center in a celebrity basketball game. It's a part of the activities for Women's Week and organizer Shelmadine Cacho explains what it's all about.
Shelmadine Cacho, WIN Belize
"Zenaida Moya, we have Indira Craig, Janelle Chanona, Tanya Carter, Ernestine Carballo, we have Sonia Linares, Sandra McKay--we have a cross section of different people from different areas. We have politicians, we have media personalities, community activists and so we kind of mixed it up.
We also have our male game, I think it will be hype. We have DJ Busch, Orson Picart, you have Hard Rock, you have Gus Pererra, and Jules Vasquez, we can't forget him.
The proceeds go to WIN Belize and its member agencies, assisting us in our work in HIV/Aids and gender based violence. I am glad that those people have decided to come out. Its not only about playing basketball, its about having fun. Like Zenaida told me she might not make a shot so it's a challenge for her to take a shot tonight."
The shows starts at seven tonight. The contribution is $3.
