Last night on 7News, Geovanni Froggie Leslie questioned the nationality of Jose Choto. Choto finished fourth in Saturday’s Cross Country and Froggie finished 5th. It was a sprint to the finish but Choto won out and crossed as the first Belizean –winning him a bull and bragging rights. But as Froggie told us last night, on the official list of winners – Jose Choto is listed as a Nicaraguan and therefore by Froggie’s assertion – he was the first Belizean to cross the finish line.

But not so fast according to Choto’s team, Sugar City’s team Zamir. In a press release, the team’s co-owner Damian Gough fired back – asserting that Choto is a Belizean and he has a Belizean passport to prove it. Gough also notes that Choto has a Belizean racing license.

Cycling Association President Emil Moreno told us yesterday that the appeals board will address the complaint by Froggie Leslie.
