The ninth central American games were held in Panama and El Salvador last week. In track and field, the delegation featured only six athletes, but they came back with a bevy of medals. We spoke to Seine Byte Resident Kaina Martinez who won two gold and one silver while Tisha Flores won gold setting a new record in the Long Jump.

They told us about their experience and did Dion Sutherland, the delegate to the national team:

Kaina Martinez,
"It is an honor to be a part of the Central American games in Panama over the weekend. I participated in 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump. I have a gold in the 100 meters and 200 meters and I also have a silver in the long jump."

Tisha Flowers,
" "We didn't really do much training for the long jump. I just went there and I jumped out of memory, what I knew, or how I know. I set a new record in long jump. The record was done by Maria Pais from Guatemala. Her record was 5.6 meters and I went and I jumped 5.97."

Dion Sutherland,
"We had six athletes – 3 males, 3 females. We brought back 6 medals -- 4 golds and 2 bronze. We set two new records for Central America Games -- in the female long jump and the male 400-meter hurdles."

There will be a special ceremony honouring these athletes on Friday.
