The Mayor's get up and run programme has been a success. We say that because on Saturday September 17th., they had 500 people participating in 5k and 10 k marathons.
That's an impressive number and they're hoping to duplicate it this weekend.
The mayor told us about Sunday's run.
Mayor Zenaida Moya
"When I went there I was pleasantly surprised at the huge turnout, again it's something that we wanted to replicate. You go to New York, you go to Boston and they too have their marathons. We will be holding another "Get up and run" marathon along with the Belize Amateur Athletics Association this Sunday, it will start promptly at 6am. I know that we had said last time that it would start 6am

promptly. We did start I believe 15 minutes after, and this was only because the turnout was huge and we had to be registering all the people that were there. But this time we will have additional persons of course to assist with the registration."
Sunday's Run starts at 6:00 am behind Brodies on Regent Street.
