And the festivities continue in the month of March as the Women Department celebrates Women's Month. Tomorrow the department will be hosting its annual Bike Rally and is inviting Belizeans to come out and support the event. The acting Director of the Department told 7news today that the event is about promoting healthy living:
Cynthia Williams - Acting Director, Women's Department

"We'll be having our annual bike rally tomorrow. This has become a national event because all the bike rallies that are being organized by the Women's Department in each of the districts will be occurring tomorrow March 16th, and so we are inviting the general public to be a part of it. If you can't come to Belize City you will definitely be able to go to the major town in that district that you are living. It's really an opportunity for the department to promote healthy living, to promote unity and teamwork. It is an opportunity for people to just participate in a fun filled activity, along with your family or along with your staff. We're inviting all business to be a part of - Police is one of the organizations that really come out in full with their police officers, we are also very happy to see Collet and other organizations. We have several of the banks, who throughout the years have also invited their staff to participate in this even. As I said, it's really an opportunity for us to be a part of something other than work related opportunities and activities. So, we have it every year, we are - four different trophy's for different winners; for the youngest female rider, for the oldest female rider, for the largest female team which is a group of women who is the - brings the most number, and of course the largest mix team which is both men and women. So we really want - would like to invite the general public to be a part of it. A part from it is that it is also a ride that is done in benefit of a charity, this year we have chosen the Gans Dress homes for Women, and so each rider, when they come to register, is invited to donate 1 dollar at least. If they can donate more, they are free to do so, and at the end then we're able to donate all proceeds to that agency to continue the work that they do. Registration begins at 5 o'clock in the morning. People sometimes are there from way before, because the first 50 riders to register gets a free water bottle that you can see here on display as well, so it's really an incentive. When they register they also get a ticket for a raffle that they then - we do at the end of the ride."
The ride will start at the junction of Western Avenue and the Western Highway. Registration begins at 5am tomorrow morning. And also the Women Department is inviting everyone out to their annual Cricket Tournament in Bermudan Landing. It starts at 8am on Sunday.
