Belize's New Broadcast Boss

Most recently you may know her from the stage, but Silvana Woods is Belize's new broadcast boss.

Woods, a veteran producer, director and educator has been named as the new chairperson of the Belize Broadcasting Authority, taking over from attorney Phillip Zuniga. The newly re-constituted board's first initiative is to develop and implement a 12 month plan of action with specific focus on licensing, self regulation in the media, and cleaning up the frequency tangle on the radio dial. A release from the BAA notes that Belize has 51 radio frequencies licensed to 25 radio stations. There are also 12 licensed broadcast television stations and 28 cable operators.
