Government is negotiating with Michael Ashcroft to bail it out of the BTL mess, but Sunrise, the company comprising senior Belizean managers of BTL is doing some negotiating of its own. One of the principals of Sunrise, Karen Bevans this evening confirmed to 7NEWS that she and the other two principals, Gaspar Aguilar and Roberto Young, flew to Miami this weekend for meetings with representatives of Jeff Prosser's company, ICC. She said they were offered Prosser's 30% share holding in BTL and indicated their interest in buying it. Meetings with Prosser's money managers are expected to follow this week when they will fly to Belize. Of course, the American investor won't bail out of BTL, until he gets off the Intelco US$26 million debt which government left him holding, and he would also wish to sell that to Sunrise. He has also indicated that he would sell Sunrise the Special Share, which would give them the power to name two of BTL's eight directors.
