In January businessman Edward Reyes was charged for allegedly shooting and killing his longtime employee Norman "Butter" Ferguson inside his butcher shop, Prime Cuts Meat, on Central American Boulevard. The 33 year old was charged for murder and remanded to the Hattieville Prison where he's been for two months. That is, until this morning when, in an unusual move, the DPP Kirk Anderson ordered Reyes brought down to Belize City for an appearance in the Magistrate's Court. Once before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord, the Prosecutor reduced the charge from murder to manslaughter. That cleared the way for bail and Reyes is tonight out on $6,000 bond. His case has been adjourned until April 28th. 'Butter' Ferguson was at work inside Prime Cut Meats on Saturday January 22nd when he was fatally shot in his chest.
